Got a small beef with blog followers (from ANY blog).

Just out of curiosity...

Do you 'drop' a blogger from your list of reading ventures due to their not writing a post basically on a daily basis?

Do you, if you blog, write on your blog page(s) on a daily basis, a few times or once a week? Or do you blog when the mood to moves you?

I'm wondering if a (now former) follower dropped me being that it was almost a week or so between posting blog posts. I don't really care that they did so. But it popped in my head that I must not be writing enough to suit their reading taste.

Well, lets take a really good look at my blog and break it down, shall we?

Look at the name of my blog... 'The (Not Always) Happy Homemaker Diary'. Operative word here? HOMEMAKER. Which means that I am a STAY-AT-HOME wife and mother.

I have one husband and I have THREE kids. And those children (through this weekend) are on SUMMER VACATION from school. Which means three kids that need to have MY attention as needed BEFORE anything else.

Plus if you notice, I have written many times in the past about my son, who is a SPECIAL NEEDS child that requires more attention and time consumption than most 'average' kids.

Plus, I have to take care of the home, hence the HOMEMAKER part of my blog name. Laundry, dishes, vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning out cat boxes (being we have three of them) and any other jobs that need to be done around here.

Now, if you have read the blog entry from YESTERDAY, you will also know that I am gearing up to once again volunteer at my kids' school (hopefully) three days a week, if not more. I'm quite possibly being 'promoted' to Co-Volunteer Coordinator. Which means quite possibly more time at the school, as well as 'working' from home.

Plus I will be on not just one, but two Parent Advisory Boards for not only the school, but for my school's district.

So, when you add all of this together, it makes for MUCH less time typing up blog entries. And if you are looking for daily, or semi-daily bloggers, then I am NOT your girl. Especially with school starting.

Also, I have a secondary blog called ParanorMel that delves in to the realm of the Paranormal. Primarily with ghosts/spirits and hauntings. Even that blog gets posted to, maybe, I'd say once a week to every two weeks. It all depends on if I had a personal experience happen, if there is a topic in my head that I wish to cover, or if I found a video and/or article that I found interesting enough to share.

But also, I do NOT see my followers dropping me there. And they know I WILL post. Just not more than MAYBE twice a week. Or for as long as every two weeks.

With that said, I hope that you will stick with me and watch for new posts in the future. At this point in time, you might never know when I will write about my adventures in life, marriage and raising my kids.

Just know that I WILL BE around. Just not as often. I find it sad that some people base their reading on the fact of how often a person posts entries. It should be based on QUALITY of the work. Not on QUANTITY in the numbers of posting.

they may not have dropped you at all. Google blogger has this nasty habit of dropping followers occasionally and you think you have lost them. Then just as suddenly they are back. It may be nothing more then they have logged out of Google. Just thought I would tell ya that.. and if that is not the case pllfffbbtttt to them lol

I blog on my ghost blog almost every day, but I have another blog that I only post on when I feel like it. You can't do it all and if people drop you, who needs fair wheather followers?

I drop blogs that either haven't posted in a LONG time, like months, blogs that I no longer feel like reading, or blogs that no longer entertain me. I do not post daily on my own blog so I would not expect others to post daily, nor would I drop them because of that. All of that being said, it's not like I go through my blog list daily and drop blogs either, I've done it maybe 3 or 4 times.

A "guilty party" dropped me as a follower on ParanorMel after they realized I caught on to their game of "let's copy the subject that ParanorMel covers, but in different wording".

Now that person is averaging a post about every 2 weeks. Before dropping me, it was DAILY posts from them, being that the ideas for the posts came from MY blog.

I'd rather you drop me and post YOUR OWN ideas (or should I say topics?), then to sit there and copy off of MY ORIGINAL work (which states below that it is MY work and it is ORIGINAL and that NO PARTS may be copied without MY permission).

Jessica, do you have a Facebook page? I'm gonna try and find you. (=

I wouldn't let it bother you. You have a busy life. I don't write on mine daily but I don't write for the "readers"...I write for myself.

That's me too, Candise (who isn't so anonymous lol). I write for myself.

But there ARE some readers that expect you to basically write daily (if that's how you started out especially), and don't think about the fact that REAL people are writing these things and that they do have a REAL life to tend to.

I honestly don't have time to read a post from all the blogs that I follow every single day. So, it's fine with me if someone posts less than that! B/c it makes me feel like I'm less behind. LOL

I posted less this week than I have in the past- it's such a busy time of the year, with back to school stuff going on.

The only time I've unfollowed for lack of posting has been if someone hasn't posted in months.

I believe I am a follower but your follower list is blank. I stop by all the time and I read you through my follower list on my dashboard so that would be a good assumption.

I have dropped 2. 1 because she had not updated for 7 months....I just figured she was never coming back. The other was because she was going in a direction that I was not comfortable. So I felt I had the right. If she were talking to me and I had to listen to her racists rant I would excuse myself and leave. So I did the same here.

Hope that sheds some light on it for you.
We are all busy I would never drop someone because of a lack in updates....(until the 7 month)

Relax....we who are here love ya - have a good weekend.

What Angel said. :) LOL.
I'm just swamped with school and writing stuff for other sites and tweeting and everything not much time to comment.
i still love ya though babe!
i'll try and get better ok?

It's not the commenting thing (or lack of it). It is the followers expecting a certain "schedule" of writing from you...If normally your pattern is to write daily, and you start to scale back, then the follower UN-follows because you have decided that REAL life must take priority over blogging.

Heck, my Volunteering blog post (right before this post was done) has only ONE comment...Spammer from Malaysia lol. No biggie.

I haven't been able to maintain my "one a day" schedule, though that's partially because I'm blogging elsewhere as well.

But I would never expect anybody to keep up that pace. Heck, it helps me keep up the reading!

I always wonder about things like this, but I try not to comment on it too much, just because it's going to make me crazy if I do.

I wouldn't worry about it.
